Angelos Spartalis arrives in Animacam with two retrospective animations!


Angelos Spartalis (1973) is a painter. He grew up in Crete-Greece and in Düsseldorf-Germany. He is a graduate of the National Technical University of Athens (Mech.Engineering-Aeronautics). Nowadays, he lives in Athens and in Aghios Nikolaos, Crete.

This controvert and imaginative artist arrives in Animacam sharing two of their lots animations: MONOCYCLE and J. Two retrospective animations, that were created by the author in traditional 2D and sharing easy and simple stories, but real true and lovely!
MONOCYCLE is a cartoon based on the painting series Double Portraits... slow and quiet movements by a monocycle, looking for his own equilibry. J tells 11 short stories with the same starrings. Expecting different feelings, sensations and adventures, their lifes are experimenting continuous changings.

Nikos Koundoros said about Spartalis: "Angelos Spartalis is definitely a pioneer, genius film-maker, and obviously an expert of the new, digital cinema".

Real love in disguise... two secrets

One boy, one girl... two secrets! That's the story of the mude animation work "Love in disguise", a 2D creation by Angeliki Salamaliki, one of the most popular animators of Greece.

This 26 aged woman has released his animations in important festivals like:
- Previe of the Short animated film"Love in Disguise" at Annecy Festival on the UWE stand – France-
- Preview of the thefilm 'Love in Disguise' at the Anim.Fest of 2006
-Personal Display at the Athens Concert Hall based on the animated film 'Love in Disguise'

Long before final name decided by Angeliki Salamaliki was 'Love in Disguise' after take decission of change the title. First title was 'Shall we Dance?' but the author thought that it was too obvious. Love in disguise was the Video of the month from the European Animation Center in Greece.

A short film based on the music theme "Aquarium" from the "Carnival of the animals" composed by Camille Saint-Saens.

Looking for the beauty of the sea and their criatures, mixing an amazing scenary with a quiet, slow and nice music, trying to show and share with everyone calm, peace, relax... The famous song "Le Carnaval des animaux" creates the perfect symbiosis with the image and the view of Aquarium

Georges Sifianos creates and features Cest moa!

This film is an animation of the choreography on the theme of the quest for power. Drawing freely on the picture (manipulator - handling) of Japanese puppet theater Bunraku, the film makes the game of power in the exercise of its variations, its ambiguities, its contradictions.
The action is divided between two actors and two puppets, in a universe where the duel is a way of life, if not become a reason for being.

How was the Tower of Babel built?

A short animation inspired by the biblical story “The tower of Babel”. Some Devil-Warms try to construct a huge, dragon shaped, building. The consequences of this arrogant attempt will be fatal...

Created by Petros Papadopoulos, this funny and cheeky animation was produced by Oval Image and developed in London Metropolis University in 2004. In the retrospective category, this film tries to show us how was constructed the Tower of Babel, by warrior-worms that celebrate with beer the end of the building construction, deffended and haunted by a big dragon.
